Wee wonderfuls

Buying pretty things for your child is lovely but making things for your child, provided you have the necessary skills and time of course, is really wonderful. It’s such an amazing feeling when someone asks where you got such an adorable item and you can say you made it yourself! So today’s post is for the crafters out there who want to make something sweet for their little one.

Gnomes & robots

Chicago-based Hillary Lang makes the sweetest toys, and shares the patterns for them in her online shop aptly named Wee Wonderfuls. If you want to make dolls, bunnies, bears, robots, even gnomes… Hillary has created a pattern for you!

Patterns

Make-a-long

One of my favourite patterns is for the Make-A-Long Story of Olive & Archie. The pattern shows you how to make Olive and Archie themselves but also all the accessories and other clothes found in this super-sweet story.

Sweet stitches

Hillary also offers embroidery and cross stitch patterns if these are the craft for you.

Decorative ideas

And if you’re looking for ways in which to use your embroidered designs then how about several embroidered designs in different sizes of embroidery hoops arranged on the wall to make a feature? Or absolutely adorable bunting for baby that would look so beautiful in the nursery!

Freebies! Woo!

Hillary’s also been kind enough to share some freebie patterns! So for those of you who perhaps aren’t as experienced and want to give some projects a go, before parting with cash for the more in-depth designs, then what about trying one of these…

Freebies

I absolutely love the elf stockings and there’s still time to make them before Christmas (just)!

Beautiful book

And then there’s this beautiful book featuring 24 different doll designs to make. Great if you want to make several toys for you and for friends. It would also make a gorgeous gift for an expectant mother who’s nifty with a needle and thread :D

I hope this has inspired you to create something! Makes me want to get making… I’m a fan of the pig on wheels :)

I’ve made the freebee cat and it looks fab. Oh Debs what are you doing to me! I’m going to be broke and Amelie & Oliver are going to be drowning in craft stuff!
