Have I got some whimsical, wonderful and downright gorgeous artwork for the nursery today? Yes, yes I have…
Ontario-based Elly MacKay creates her incredible images by inking yupo paper and cutting it into layers which she then sets up in a miniature theater. A little like this…
But then when she plays around with the lights and filters to create atmosphere and photographs the scenes the result is this…

I love them! The layering gives them a definite 3D quality and the blur makes them so magical.
Once again I’ve shown you something I want for myself that is perfect for children too! But I guess that’s just what I’m drawn to. Things bought for baby don’t have to be something that will only work for their first few years, they can be something your little one will love for a long time. Perhaps even until they decide to put it in their own child’s nursery. And there’s something lovely about that :)

I’ve shared a few cute cartoony prints on the blog as artwork ideas for a little one’s room. But time for something more fantastical and fairytale… I just love the prints by Pennsylvania-based Melissa, shared in her Etsy shop This Year’s Girl. Whilst some are more suitable for an older audience these in particular have a lovely childlike charm to them…
And even those that are a little older still evoke thoughts of fairytale princesses and far off lands, inspiring the dreaming that’s a requirement in childhood…
If you like these you must head on over to Melissa’s shop. She also creates beautiful jewellery using her prints, just perfect for us older princesses :)

I featured the fantastic fantasy creations of Lorna Freytag back in December, but when she announced the launch of her babies collection I knew I had to feature her work again! Lorna’s portraits not only invlove photographing your child but also styling their surroundings digitally. The finished pieces are certainly works of art and for fantasy-lovers, or those after something a little different, they are the perfect choice for a portrait of your little one…
For more information on the process involved please head to this post where you will also see more incredible images!
