One thing that many parents find a necessity in a nursery is the alphabet. There must be thousands of versions of those 26 letters waiting to adorn your child’s wall. Today I have a lovely embroidered example to show you. For the crafty amongst you the following alphabet comes sold as individual PDF patterns or you can be ambitious and get the whole lot …
Designed by, Minneapolis-based, Alyssa and sold through her business Penguin & Fish these lovely animals with their corresponding letters look sweet individually but would make a fantastic feature together.
Or drop the letters and the educational element and have them as purely decorative displays…
Sans sewing
However, if stitching’s not your thing then avert your attention to some of Alyssa’s other creations; the cutest kitties and unicorns! The legs are uniquely positioned on these creatures so you can see all four at once. Each animal is one of a kind using various different fabrics and Alyssa numbers them all on the back in the order they were created…
With the beautiful fabrics and sweet handmade simplicity used in these creations I can see them becoming toys that are passed from generation to generation. Perhaps that means I could get one now and pass it on to my child when I eventually have one :)

This week I’m bringing the usual Saturday shoot forward. Simply because Christmas Day falls on a Saturday this year and I am having a break! So what shoot would I have been showing at the weekend? This playful session of Leslie & Christian captured by Stormy Sloane.
Stormy describes herself as a ‘lifestyle photographer for fun-loving families’. And when she says she is a lifestyle photographer she means exactly that; rather than a staged shoot in a studio Stormy likes to capture your little one’s life by taking them to a natural location where they can play, laugh and run around whilst she snaps away with her camera. The result is this…

… a gorgeous relaxed shoot where Christian clearly looks comfortable and happy. Perfect portraits!

Australian-based Sharnel runs Sharnel Dollar Designs: a business that not only specialises in event styling and dessert tables but also features a shop stocked full of goodies for your own parties. Today I’ve put together some images from a party she created that I particularly loved…
Awesome images courtesy of Naomi V Photography
This carnival party is packed full of colour with the emphasis on the bright and bold primary colours: red, blue and yellow. I love the addition of nostalgic elements such as the tin toys and rolls of tickets, I love the stripes and the huge balloons and the clown games. All sorts of carnival games would go well with this party; you could set up a coconut shy, a jar full of sweets for the guests to guess how many, a paddling pool full of plastic ducks with numbers on the bottom relating to different prizes, a tin can alley or buckets and ping pong balls to throw into them. With a few small prizes to be won this party would definitely be all the fun of the fair!
