Posts featuring ‘sweet table’

Arrrr it’s a pirate party!

We first featured this awesome party by Vickie of Boutique Baking just over two years ago. So we figured it’d be a good time for a revisit, as you can never go wrong with a pirate party!

Vickie decided on the theme for George’s 2nd birthday because when he laughs it’s really deep and more of an ‘Arrgghhh’ than a laugh and apparently he sounds like a pirate! Of course this party would be ace even if your little one doesn’t sound like a pirate! :D

Vickie decided to have the table of sweets separate to the other food as she was concerned the kids would eat nothing healthy at all if all those sweets had been on the table! I think she was right, even I’d be going straight for the candy, it looks amazing!

That picture of the party food takes me right back to being a child again… love cheese & pineapple on a stick!

The treats on the sweet table had inventive names such as Cannon Ball Cake Pops, Gunpowder Cupcakes, Pirates Belly Wobbly Jelly, Mallows of Merriment and the cake had ‘Captain George is 2’ around the outside. Love little details like that :)

Fala La La Laaaa Party!

Christmas parties don’t need to be all red, green and glitter. It’s good to be a little more experimental with colour for a change, as proven by this gorgeous pink, blue and lavender example featured on Hostess With The Mostess from Wants and Wishes.

Olympic Party

In case it had managed to escape your attention (impossible I’m sure) Olympic fever has now truly swept the country. The London 2012 Olympics are well underway and creating great excitement amongst even the least athletic (that includes me)! I have to say, I’m really enjoying the team spirit it is encouraging. Patriotism is alive and well!

With this theme in mind, I have a gorgeous party to share with you from Kate Griffin Photography and Buttons Children’s Parties

First, Kate tells us exactly how it came about:

”To celebrate the Olympics this summer, me and Ellie from Buttons Children’s Parties decided to arrange a very special party in the Surrey woods, that gave some local athletes the chance to test their metal against other eager competitors. They carried boiled eggs on spoons, hopped along a sandy track in a hessian sack, found that 3 legs are not better than 4 and finally hunted for medals in the woods.
And what got them there in the first place? What made them hungry for success? (Literally hungry).
It was Ellie’s amazing sweet table, heaved into place with the help of Mr Kelly and excellent party helper Stevie. An antique bureau bedecked with old school, old fashioned sweets and topped off with a creative homage to the olympic rings. As ever, with all things crafty and creative Ellie did a gold-medal winning job.
The kids came. They conquered. They won bags of sweets. I believe all the sweets were made from root vegetables and contained absolutely no sugar whatsoever.*
* This claim cannot be verified. And actually if the kids had to do a sugar-based doping test following the races, I’m pretty sure they would have all failed.
So here it is, in pictures, the story of our Olympics-themed party in the woods. On your marks. Get set. Go!”

What a great idea! I love this party! And the kids look like they did too :) This is just a sample of images from this fabulous party. For the rest of them, and lots more gorgeousness, head over to Kate’s blog or for more fantastic parties, visit Ellie’s website.
