When photographer Katy Melling got in touch asking if we’d like to feature any of her recent portrait shoots, I had to go with Darcy. She is just adorable, and I love the range of facial expressions Katy captured! Here Katy tells us more about the sweet shoot…
Birthday girl
Darcy had just celebrated her first birthday that week and Mum, Julie, wanted me to photograph her at this special time in her life. We decided the session would take place at their home in Newcastle as we wanted to keep it simple and get some shots of Darcy in her nappy whilst she still looked little. Babies grow up so quickly and before you know it they’re on their feet, so this session was timed perfectly to capture some wonderful memories.
I love to photograph little ones as they are yet to become camera shy, and my main aim is to truly capture the child’s character just as I did with little Darcy. She was full of smiles and cuddles for teddy and an absolute sweetheart to photograph. She even had a splash about in a bubble bath for me!
