Birthday Party Inspiration: Frozen Themed Styled Shoot

I’ll be honest with you, I haven’t seen Frozen! Wow, right?! How on earth have I managed to miss the film that practically everybody was talking about for months after its release?!

I guess the lack of children meant I didn’t absolutely have to watch it and so sadly I’ve just not got around to it. But I promise I will at some point, because I absolutely love Disney films! I’m pretty sure I could still sing along to “Let It Go” even though I’ve yet to watch it ;) Maddie & Zoe’s version is still my favourite rendition of that song! :D

Despite not seeing practically the biggest family film of the last year, I still know a beautiful party when I see one…

Antonina, of Antonina Mamzenko Photography, sent us the following fantastic photos that are sure to provide you with tons of inspiration for hosting a party that your little Frozen fans would absolutely adore. Over to Antonina…

A Frozen silver and blue birthday party

A few weeks ago I had an opportunity to work with some amazing suppliers on a Frozen-themed birthday party inspiration shoot.

Melissa from The Sweet Hostess and Laura from The Sweet Stylist have put together a beautiful sweet table that was not only child friendly but also included many adult favourites like chocolate brownies! The sweets used were meringue kisses, raspberry jelly beans, parma violets, paint balls, milk bottles and rock candy. They all complimented the colour theme perfectly and were displayed on ceramic cake stands and glass bon bon and sweet jars. We also used a silver sequin tablecloth which added the ‘chill factor’ and added a touch of sparkle and glamour to the table.

The sweet jars were all labelled with gorgeous candy labels, by Garden of Eden, that had little jewels and glitter snowflakes just to create that extra sparkle factor. Lots of special touches were added such as the paper straw labels, old fashioned mini milk bottles and printed wooden utensils.

Tamara from Once Upon a Time Birthdays brought along the gorgeous princesses Elsa and Anna and our child models were in awe of them, they just couldn’t believe their favourite princesses were there in person!

The best back-to-school photos!

So for many of us, this week will be an emotional one. Regardless of whether our ‘babies’ are starting school for the very first time, going back to school with a new teacher or moving on to their next school, it’s normally a moment we don’t want to forget. Which is why the internet will be full of pictures of smiling little faces donning crispy uniforms and shiny, new shoes. I love them!

But, to help to ensure that our back-to-school photos are the best they can be (especially difficult with a tear in your eye!), fab photographer
Vicki Knights has put together a fantastic set of simple instructions that are perfect for back-to-school photos, but will also help you to take better pictures of your children every day!

back-to-school photos tips

Covering everything from how to get good light, to ideas for creating longer term records, your back-to-school photos will never be the same again!

A beautiful baptism shoot by Amy Fanton

We don’t share many baptism shoots, I imagine because it’s something that many people don’t hire a professional to capture. But it’s an important milestone in baby’s life, along with one they’re likely to be all dressed up for and surrounded by family and friends, so it’s a great chance to get some lovely shots. As Amy Fanton proves with the wonderful shoot we’re sharing today!

I had the pleasure of photographing this baptism back in May in one of the most beautiful cathedrals in all of London - St. Mary Abbots, located in the heart of Kensington.

I generally approach christening photo sessions the same way I would approach a wedding in terms of capturing the details, the ceremony, formal and candid portraits of the family and lots of individual portraits of the special little girl or boy. In this particular instance however, photos were not allowed during the ceremony inside of the church.

I met baby S and her mom several days before the actual baptism to take some individual portraits of the baby and the baptismal gown as many families find the day of celebration a bit chaotic and busy for a formal portrait session. I had done newborn photographs for Baby S back in October and I was so surprised when I met her this time to see how big and beautiful she had become in such a short few months! She was such a smiley and sweet little girl, it was really my pleasure!
