Nutella recipes for World Nutella Day

In 2007, an Italy-based, American blogger called Sara noted that were many days in the year to appreciate certain things, but not one for Nutella. And so she created one!

Recruiting her pal Michelle for help, they picked the date February the 5th and spread the word.

They did a good job as their Facebook fans now stand at over 42,000, and people worldwide set aside time to enjoy World Nutella Day on February 5th every year.

Personally, I think the excuse to eat as much Nutella as I want is a very good one!

Participate & eat Nutella

If you’d like to join in appreciating the chocolate-hazelnutty goodness that is the delicious Nutella, then here are a few recipe ideas for you to make with, or for, the little ones…

Re-Wood Toys’ Teething Necklaces

Teething beads always make me nervous. It makes no difference how ‘safe’ they claim to be, or how well tested, I will never feel comfortable watching a chewing machine with a mouth full of beads. That said, I have allowed my own children to chew on non-official, probably untested and likely highly unsafe, ‘normal’ beads on occasion, because, well, when they need to chew…!

OK, so, confession out of the way, I have found an alternative that a. doesn’t make me uncomfortable to watch, b. doesn’t inspire public confessionals and c. that I think most mums would be happy to wear! These wooden teething necklaces from Re-Wood Toys on Etsy!

I love the chunkiness (real word?!) of the necklaces, and the natural wood, and the fact that you could happily allow your child to chew them to their heart’s content, safe in the knowledge that they’re not going anywhere. Check out the full range of natural, organic and earth friendly toys over in the Etsy shop.

DIY attire: caterpillar to butterfly appliquéd dress

I spotted this gorgeous metamorphosis dress over on Pinterest and just had to share it…

Caterpillar to butterfly metamorphosis dress by Running with Scissors

The talented mother behind it writes the blog Running With Scissors, and apparently this creation was executed in just one afternoon!

Jessica introduces the post stating “This is a project I think you’ll love or hate. There’s no in between because it’s weird, nerdy, and a titch creepy.” Well. I’m definitely in the ‘love it’ camp!

The transformation from caterpillar to butterfly is definitely one of nature’s wonders, and I love that this adorable dress would also allow your little one to learn more about the magical transformation.

If you have some sewing know-how yourself, and would love to make something similar, you should get over to the blog to see more photos.

Or if you’re completely new to freehand machine embroidery perhaps a book like this one would help you get started :)
