Lox captured by Map Your Soul

I have a lovely shoot to share today and some lovely lyrics to go with it! Shirley from Map Your Soul Photography captured new parents Dirk & Michelle and their adorable baby boy Lox at their home.

The photos are beautifully relaxed, with Lox smiling away and lots of cuddles. As Shirley so rightly puts it on her website…

Everyone has a camera and everyone can take pictures, and I think it is fantastic that they do. It is however important to capture a moment, the essence of it, the emotion, and I want you to be part of that and not be stuck behind a camera. I want you to be part of the experience and the memory.

It’s fantastic to snap lots of shots yourself of this time in your life, but it’s even better to make sure you’re in some of the photos too! Images like this will be so lovely to look back on in years to come…

Awesome image credit: Map Your Soul Photography and lovely lyrics from Lee Ann Womack’s song I Hope You Dance

Thank you so much to Shirley for sharing and to you for reading :)

Early Bird nursery light from Alma’s Room

Lovely lighting can make a bedroom, and the Early Bird from Alma’s Room is certainly that! Inspired by the Sparrow and handmade in glazed ceramic, the Early Bird sends direct light from the sparrow’s chest and a warmer, cosier nursery light from the wings and tail.

Aren’t they beautiful! To find out where you can buy the Early Bird, go to stockists page and if you’re in the UK, you can find them at Molly Meg.

Awesome experiments with Sick Science!

The summer holidays are upon us, and that means many parents desperately finding ways to entertain the kids for weeks! Well, Steve Spangler and his awesome science experiments can help you out there.

Steve Spangler is a teacher, science toy designer, speaker, author and an Emmy award-winning television personality… but your kids won’t care about that. What they will care about is the fact that due to Steve experimenting with Mentos and Coke they can make their own awesome geyser in the garden this summer!

AMAZING!

There are tons more where that came from too, some indoors activities, some outdoors, all bound to fascinate your kids.

Here are just three more examples…

You should check out the cornstarch walk on water too, if you haven’t seen it before, as it’s really cool! May be just a little too ambitious to recreate this summer though ;)
