Matte Art

Matte Stephens is a fantastic artist currently living in Upstate New York. The lines and colours used in his gouache paintings give them a lovely retro feel. Although I believe all his artwork would be lovely hanging in a living room those featuring animals are a perfect fit for a little one’s art collection…

I really want the smiley breakfast print! A rasher of bacon wearing glasses is enough to get a grin out of me :)

No-Heat Treats

Recently I have been mostly craving absolutely anything sweet, which is unusual for me as I am a savoury soul by nature. It has however inspired me to bring you some sweet treats that you can make with and for the children and not only because they’re delish, but because they’re no bake, (mostly) no danger, no delay! (Some do require heat in saucepan form, but No-Heat Treats Except A Bit in the Saucepan, just doesn’t have the same ring to it).

Disclaimer: Belle Bébés bears no responsibility for any addictions sustained during or immediately following the consumption of the following treats. :)

I will begin with these Chewy Cookies and Cream bars from Picky Palate made from only 3 ingredients, Oreos, marshmallows and butter. So, so simple and with a waiting (cooling) time of only 10 minutes, I think even the most impatient of kids (that would be me) could manage to wait for these!

Next on the menu are Chocolate, Peanut Butter & Oatmeal Cookies from Brown Eyed Baker. These do require heat from the hob, so depending on the age of your children, you may need to make these for them and not with them, but they will love them all the same!

This recipe is the ‘healthy option’ as it has a raspberry on it and lemon juice in it (does that count as 2 of your 5 a day?!) :) It’s Cheesecake Mini-Desserts from Recipe Tips and don’t they just look yum! Dead easy to make too.

And finally, S’More Nutella Crunch Bars from The Family Kitchen on Babble - rocky road-esque crunch bars with Nutella – mmmmm…. Substitute the Graham crackers with digestive biscuits if you’re in the UK and you have yourself a delightful treat. The only downside is that they need an hour to freeze (but I think you could eat them still a little soft, no…?!)

Apologies if your swimsuit diet is now out of the window (but isn’t it worth it!)

Nursery Inspiration: Sailboats & Seagulls

A nautical theme is lovely for either a boy or a girl. It’s fresh, clean and could even inspire the adventurer in your child! ‘Sailboats & Seagulls’ is an inspiration board for a sea-themed room that isn’t too young and that can grow as your child does. Eagle-eyed viewers may question the fact I’ve shown both a sailboat mobile, typically for hanging over a crib, alongside a toddler’s bed (how amazing is the bed?!) However I think this theme could last several years with just switching a few key elements and I wanted to get that across. What do you think?

Any crib would go with this theme but if you were desperate to incorporate a boat for a baby bed then you should really check out the awesome creations from Beaver Boatworks…
