A decorated bump

I have a lovely bump session to share with you today from Jade Langton Evans Photography on Thurstaston beach on the Wirral, Merseyside. I’ll let Jade do the ‘talking’… :)

I met up with Alison, Luke, little Jacob and baby bump on a beautiful day in May for their family bump session.
We couldn’t have picked a better day really for the beach. Alison and I had chatted over several emails discussing ideas and chatting about her family and special things to them as well as plans for the session and we were really excited about finally meeting up and having a lovely day capturing family memories. The aim was to capture the beauty of pregnancy. I had visualised Alison raised on a big rock on the beach with her bump out looking beautiful and really natural as well as capturing beautiful moments with her family. Alison and Luke still don’t know whether the baby is a boy or a girl and so they had little names for Jacob when he was younger peanut and the little baby inside Alisons tummy now is Pip, hence the painting fun at the end of the session :)

We met at Thurstaston beach on the Wirral. We first took some photographs right near to the beach where there was a lovely spot with lots of trees and pretty light which I thought would be great to get settling into the session nicely and give a lovely variation of backdrops.
When on a session I love to be able to capture the most natural moments, with love, emotion and happiness as well as the true story of the people I am photographing. In order to be able to show this within images you have to be able to connect with the clients on a personal level or images just don’t have that something special about them. This is really important to me and something I aim for in every session. I really get to know my clients beforehand and on the day, it helps me to understand how to capture them in this way.

I really enjoyed this session, it was so relaxed and a lovely day out!
I’ll let Alison tell you about how I work and show you the story of our day together:

Our photography session with Jade Langton Evans Photography was professional, fun and relaxed. We loved the different locations that were used to produce completely different types of photographs within the one session.

The session was easy to book and Jade contacted us beforehand to find out our ideas about what we would like to include in the sessions to make them more personal to us as a family.

Jade’s style of photography is of relaxed photographs of family moments with a natural backdrop. Jade doesn’t produce a static family photo. There is a story to her photography – it’s like she documents a family day out with the most beautiful of settings and a relaxed family atmosphere.

Jacob is quite a shy little boy and does take a while to warm to people. Jade took this in her stride and chatted to and played with Jacob to let him get used to her and what we were doing. She let Jacob do his own thing for a while and used her persuasive powers to encourage him to join in the session. Jade made things fun for Jacob so that he wanted to be involved in the photo session. We know that Jacob had a fun time as he didn’t stop talking about the noises that were made when he was throwing stones into the water!!!

For us adults, it was a little easier to encourage us to be involved! Jade guided us into the right positions for the shots and made suggestions about how to position ourselves, but overall the idea was to be natural and just allow Jade to find the right shot. Although some shots were slightly more posed then others, we were still being natural together as a family so it felt comfortable.

The only other photo session we have been involved in before was our wedding photos. Jade was much more relaxed in her approach and this allowed the photos to be more natural and less posed.

Having already seen Jade’s amazing photos from other sessions, we were very excited to see how our shots would turn out. Our photos were beautiful, elegant at times and told such a story of our afternoon. You can see the shy Jacob at the start and then the Jacob we know and love towards the end with his giggles and fun.

The family and couple photos are lovely – lots of cuddles with the bump being a big part of these shots.

Jacob loved being able to play about while we were taking the photos, especially colouring mummy’s tummy!!! This made it easier for us adults to relax into the session

I love the photos of mum and bump. They celebrate my pregnancy in such a beautiful way that will be so lovely to look back on in years to come.

Thank you Jade for these amazing memories!!!
