A Beatrix Potter painting

When Belle Bébés reader Kate got in touch to ask if I’d like to feature her baby’s room the answer was a definite yes. I’m a huge fan of contemporary design but I also have a rather large soft spot for the classics too. And Beatrix Potter is definitely a classic contender for children’s design. Says Kate…

“As we didn’t want to find out the sex of our baby, my husband and I decided a Beatrix Potter themed nursery would be fitting for either a boy or girl. I set about looking for wallpaper/borders but to no avail so I decided to try my hand at creating a mural and absolutely loved the process. Our beautiful baby boy; Henry Thomas, arrived on 26-4-11 and hopefully he will love it too!”

A painting in progress

Kate sent me images of the work in progress. You can see where she’s pinned the images to the wall to decide on their locations. A great way to decide where to put characters as you can easily move them until you’re happy…

A magical mural

And here’s the finished room. Wow!

And Kate’s talent doesn’t stop at incredible painting skills. Just look what she created with an average paper lantern, basket, glue gun and a little imagination!

What a wonderful room! I’m positive Henry will be very impressed by what his mummy achieved; this is one magnificent mural!
