Real rooms : Graham : Born May 2010

Another gorgeous nursery for you today; this one courtesy of Amy, owner of fab Etsy shop the b-line. She decorated a delightful nursery in anticipation of her son, Graham, and has kindly shared with us the inspiration behind it…

The original color inspiration (grey and yellow) for the room came from a pillow that I spotted at Target. I had a bit of trouble finding bedding and other fabrics that I really liked (not wanting the room to be theme-y or pastel blue), so I used the site Spoonflower to design and print my own fabrics, which I used throughout the room. We had a blast using DIY projects (ottoman, mobile, bunting, crib skirt, hoop collage, etc) to make the space one of a kind.

Although it may be seen as unusual to some, grey’s a fantastic colour for a nursery. It’s a perfect base for adding colour to with accessories and makes it easier for the room to grow with the child. Just swap a few accessories and the room won’t need to be re-painted.

I love the use of embroidery hoops showing off a host of amazing fabrics: a really simple way to create a feature. The rain mobile was an amazing $5 DIY project made by Amy and how cute are those knitted skates?!

Thanks Amy (& Graham) for letting me feature this gorgeous room.
